June Adventures on the Water Around St. Joseph, MI | Cressy & Everett Real Estate

Our real estate agents know there are many good reasons to choose the Michiana area for your next home. Our kayaking season runs long, and there are plenty of waterways to explore!

St. Joseph homes for sale are just minutes from the St. Joseph River and Lake Michigan, with their numerous public access points. With nearly 5,000 square miles of watershed, it calls out to a wide range of visitors from all over the United States who enjoy kayaking, fishing, canoeing, and much more.

South Bend homes for sale are about half an hour from St. Joseph, but you don't have to visit the neighboring community to enjoy water access. There are several trails on the west bank of the St. Joseph River. Public parks often have boat access ramps that allow you to get started on your weekend journeys.

There are six locations all throughout St. Joseph and the surrounding communities. Their coverage of the shores of Lake Michigan and the Paw Paw River means you have plenty of options!

    Scooter Joe's Wheel & Water Rentals is the place to go when the season kicks off after Memorial Day weekend and all through June. In addition to single and tandem kayaks, you can also gear up for a land adventure. Surrey bikes with seating for up to 11 and street-legal go-karts are some of the highlights.

    Doe Wah Jack's Canoe Rental is a popular option for exploring the Dowagiac River. Not only do they have single and tandem kayaks, but their guides will gladly take you out for your choice of a two, four, or six-hour tour. This is an ideal way to enjoy a moderately paced river known for family-friendly outdoor experiences.

  • Black River Cruises – 600 Virginia Ave., South Haven, MI 49090
    Black River Cruises bills itself as "the region's most reliable" name for renting watersport equipment, including kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards. There's an incredible assortment of kayaks, too—from speed kayaks to lake-rated or kid-friendly. And, yes, sturdy tandem kayaks are also on hand.
