Looking for a way to shake off the cold weather? Try these South Bend restaurants serving up steamy soup.

If you're a soup lover, our real estate agents recommend that you check out five local South Bend restaurants that offer daily homemade soups, as well as other tasty menu items. With cold weather quickly approaching, it's the perfect time to try out some of the area's best soup recipes and hot meals that are sure to warm up your day.

  1. Cafe Navarre – 101 North Michigan Street
Cafe Navarre is a popular South Bend eatery located in the downtown area. Its Old World ambiance and breathtaking architectural details take you back to a different time in history. Well-known by locals for its fine cuisine including Bolognese slow braised veal, pork, and beef with pasta, Filet Mignon with black truffles, and Wild Mushroom soup, there's no shortage of mouth-watering flavors here. If there's room for dessert, try the Pumpkin Butterscotch Cheesecake baked with a graham cracker crust and topped with toffee and Bavarian mousse.

  1. Cre-Asian – 1639 North Ironwood Drive
If you're looking for a change of pace, head to Cre-Asian, a local favorite for Vietnamese and Chinese cuisine. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, and they have a great selection of entrees and hot soups with mouthwatering flavors. Favorites include Grilled Chicken Satay served with coconut and peanut sauce, Fried Calamari with ginger sauce, Pho Chicken Soup with rice noodles, and Vietnamese Hot and Sour Soup garnished with lemon herbs. Cre-Asian also serves vegetarian dishes and delicious Vietnamese Iced Coffee.

  1. Fiddler's Hearth – 127 North Main Street
Fiddler's Hearth, an Irish Pub with great Irish dishes and plenty of tap beer, is popular with visitors in town looking for South Bend homes for sale, as well as the local residents. If you're looking for a fun place to unwind, listen to live music, and enjoy a tasty meal, don't miss a trip to Fiddler's Hearth for lunch, dinner, or Sunday brunch. Try the Fiddler's Cobb Salad, followed by Fish & Chips or Molly Malone Stew served with a glass of Guinness Draught beer or Scottish Ale. In December, live music includes special performances by Black Murray and Bohola, a Celtic Christmas.

  1. Nom Nom Pho – 213 North Main Street
Nom Nom Pho is a Vietnamese restaurant in the heart of downtown. They serve a variety of dishes that include spicy street foods, Bun Noodle salads, Banh Mi sandwiches, Shrimp or Pork Rice Platters, and Savory Soups simmered for 24 hours before serving. Favorite soups include Beef Pho and Seafood Pho, Miso Ramen with chicken or pork, and Tom Yum Noodles, a tangy cabbage and mushroom soup with tofu & pineapple. A nice touch here, you can choose your spice level to perfectly match your taste buds.

  1. The Lauber – 504 East Lasalle Avenue, Suite 2
If you're looking for delicious food, tap beer and ale, and a huge selection of whiskeys and cocktails, you don't want to miss The Lauber. You won't find a better place for homemade chicken soup, cheese flatbread, beer-battered fries, Artisan pizza, and warm chocolate cookies topped with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Signature Cocktails include the Lauber Old Fashioned with butterscotch, and Nothing Good Happens after 2 AM, a dirty martini made with vodka or gin. For a relaxing weekend treat, head to The Lauber on Saturday or Sunday when brunch is served on the outdoor patio from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM.
